Your Trail Buddy provides gear-finder tools designed to help you compare outdoor products based on the answers you provide. This policy explains what information we collect through the Gear Finder, how we use it, and the choices you have.
When you use a Gear Finder, we may collect the answers you provide, the recommendations generated from those answers, anonymous session or finder-attempt identifiers, product-link interactions, and feedback you choose to submit.
If you ask us to email your results, we collect the email address you provide so we can send that requested message. If you separately check the newsletter opt-in box, we also record your marketing consent, including the consent wording and time it was provided.
We use this information to operate the Gear Finder, generate and deliver recommendations, improve recommendation quality, understand how the tool is used, troubleshoot problems, and measure whether the recommendations are useful.
We do not use newsletter consent to change product rankings, and affiliate relationships do not determine which products the Finder recommends.
Requesting an emailed copy of your results does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails. You are added to the Your Trail Buddy newsletter only when you separately opt in. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe using the unsubscribe option provided in marketing emails.
Newsletter opt-in records may be transferred to the email platform Your Trail Buddy uses to manage and send newsletters, including Beacons.
Some product links are affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, Your Trail Buddy may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate networks and merchants may receive technical information about the click and may use cookies or similar technologies for attribution. Affiliate commissions do not affect Finder recommendations.
We use third-party services to operate the Gear Finder and related features, including WeWeb for the application interface, Cloudflare for website hosting and delivery, Supabase for backend services and data storage, Resend for requested result emails, and Beacons for newsletter management when applicable. These providers process information on our behalf according to their own privacy and security practices.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to operate and improve the service, maintain consent and delivery records, prevent abuse, and meet legal or business obligations. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
You can use the Finder without providing an email address. Feedback is optional. You can also request access to or deletion of personal information we reasonably associate with you, subject to legal and operational requirements.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to yourtrailbuddy@gmail.com.
